Hey Y'all!
As I walked out to my minivan after school yesterday with another teacher, she looked at me and said, "Girl......whew......only four more Mondays to go!" Can I tell y'all that I have never been so ready to get out of school for the summer.
My 6th graders are whiny and complaining and have decided they really don't care if they do anything or not.
My 7th graders are great....they'll work and they'll smile and make me laugh while they're getting their work done. My 8th graders.....ugh......they're already thinking they're high school freshmen. Their little prom is in two weeks and our state's testing program is next week. That being said, it's already "over" for them. They're fighting, fussing, eye rolling, lip smackin', wouldn't work at a pie factory as a taster, selves are so irritating me.
One of my 8th grade boys actually called another student the B-Word yesterday. When I asked him, his reply was...."Nope... I only called her a dummy." Ummm...right...Einstein....they sound EXACTLY the same to me?!
Understand why I'm begging Big Daddy to let me take a nap every afternoon when I get home from school?
Understand why I dream about the days of summer when me and Robbie have the opportunity to go to the "free" movies on Tuesday, 1/2 price Wednesdays at Monkey Joe's, (ooh...if you don't know about Monkey Joe's, click HERE), take a trip to our friends' Jan and Wayne's pool during the middle of the day, ride and go to thrift shops, stay up until 2 am and sleep until 11 am....etc.
It's all I can think about right now....I'm ready for Summer Vacation and I still have 26 school days to go.
Please say a little prayer for me....because like my 8th graders, in my mind, this year is over!!!...and I struggle daily to be a professional....even if dummy and the B-Word don't rhyme.....
OMG, I don't see how you do it. Most of them need their butts kicked! My mom popped my jaws many times and I didn't turn out to be a murder or brain dead.
Hang in there girl, summer is right around the corner. And I have to work all summer....grrrr
I think it would be awesome to have the whole summer off!! But I tell ya, I could never EVER be teacher...any age!! I'd be killing me some kids!! I have no tolerance at all!
Praying your days will "fly" by for you until school's out!
Girl, I am ready for summer too! I haven't started counting days yet...there's too many of them! Our kids don't get out until June 10. A couple of years ago, FL passed a law that the earliest school can start is 14 days prior to Labor Day. Well, this past year, Labor Day was late (Sept. 7), so the earliest we could start school was August 24. That's what we're so late getting out. I liked it when we started at the beginning of August and were out in late May.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, "Big Daddy" since December 17, 1994. I'm a happy mama to an adorable six year old son named Robbie. He's absolutely, without a doubt, my world. We adopted him officially on May 10, 2007 but he's been with us since June 7, 2006. I got a late start on being a mama, but God knows what He's doing. They say that you have more patience if you're older when you start a family, right? Nobody said anything about not having any energy!
I teach 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies and I'm the pianist for my church.
I love to sew, crochet, cook, do various crafts, play computer games on Facebook, and laugh until I'm hurting!
My family is my world.
I enjoy meeting people and making new friends who share my interests.
