Eat, sing, swim, praise--all in about two days' work.

Where did I leave off last time?
Oh...yes...our busy day last Friday.
Saturday was filled with lots of fun! I had to write out the bills for the month....UGH! Big Daddy went and picked Robbie up from Nanny's that afternoon and then we headed to Shogun with my best friend Sharon and her daughter Ally. We had a great time and Robbie loves seeing the fire on that Hibachi grill! Besides the fried rice, I guess that's his favorite part about going to a sit down Japanese restaurant and having them cook for you. My mouth just watered as I was typing that last sentence. Oh how I love me some Japanese Hibachi Steak with mushrooms! Wooo-doggie!
Sunday is God's day and our day of rest. We had regular church Sunday morning and then we ended up going to Tommy's BBQ on Hwy. 321 in Dallas. I just googled for a picture, but there wasn't one. If you're from around these parts, you know exactly where I'm talking about.

Sunday night was our Vacation Bible School Commencement program at church. When Robbie's class got up to sing/dance their two songs, he pitched a fit and wanted "DOWN!" I had to hold him in my lap while I sat in the floor and sang with the kids. I don't understand why that happened because I don't mind getting up in front of a crowd. Maybe he's like his Big Daddy when it comes to crowds. I hope not though!

Sunday night after church I went to Mammaw's and cleaned her house and gave her a bath. This was NOT fun because she didn't want to get out of her chair, but it had to be done. Thank God that my friend Julie is back to work at Mammaw's this week. She had surgery and got the OK from the dr. to return to her babysitting job. It has really helped me out so far this week because I've had teacher workshops the past two days. Because of that, Robbie had to go to daycare yesterday. He's been home with me all summer and I didn't know how he would do when I dropped him off. That little booger was so happy to be there and I almost had to MAKE him give me some sugar before I left.
While I was at a luncheon yesterday that was sponsored by our local newspaper, The Gaston Gazette, I met up with an old friend of mine. Brian Jackson was our entertainment during the luncheon! He was my junior prom date. haha Neither one of us had a date and we were good friends, so we went. I am NOT EVEN going to dig out THAT picture, because my cousin did my hair and I think it was her secret mission to make me look like Martha Washington with black hair--and that's all I'm going to say about that--except for the fact that I've never really forgiven her either. ok...done! hahah

Fun Friday!

We had such a great day yesterday!
Robbie, mama and myself headed out around 9:00 to go on a day trip to the NC Mountains.
We had a full day planned and had so much fun!
After filling up the gas tank and heading up Interstate 40, we pulled off of an exit to get a Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuit. Those things are absoutely the best thing I've put in my mouth in a LONG time!
Then we headed on up to find the Elmore Pisgah Cotton Yarn Mill Outlet! I printed off directions from Mapquest and we missed a turn, had to turn around and go a completely different direction from what the map said, and finally made it!
Here's a couple of pictures of the town of Old Fort, North Carolina! After spending $85.00 (shhhh...don't tell Big Daddy) on a HUGE box of yarn, we decided to drive around the town a little bit. We found a nice store that is full of crafts from local people. Here's my mama and Robbie outside the store:

Then while still riding around the town, I saw a YARD SALE sign! I whipped it in and began to look. There was a nice older man there and I told him I was looking for "Old Grandmaw Clip-On Earrings." He went to the van and pulled out a box. I was squealing with delight inside as I began to mate up the pairs. Ended up getting all these for $10.00! WHAT A STEAL!

Finally Joann, my college roommate called and we headed on up to Black Mountain to meet her at McDonald's for lunch. We had a great time talking and catching up and she fell in love with Robbie too! He just kinda has that way about him! He played in the Playplace while we chatted. Mama took two pictures of us while we were there. The first picture is of us during our Sophomore year of college at Mars Hill College. Joann--I had so much fun chatting with you and catching up! We MUST do it again this fall!
So, after that we loaded up the minivan and headed back home. We found a little yard sale on the way back and I bought these for Robbie for 75 cents each! I can't wait until Thanksgiving because the bottom sweater will get shown off! It's so cute!

When we got home around 5:00, I dropped mama off and we came home to The Doublewide. Robbie hung out here for awhile and then Big Daddy took him to spend the night with Nanny(Big Daddy's Mama). They're running some errands today and then she'll take him to Monkey Joe's to let him wear himself out before his nap.
I have GOT to get this place cleaned up a bit. My sink is full of dishes and the living room floor is STILL full of toys! Laundry's piling up too!
Oh, in case you're wondering what in the world I'm going to do with all of that yarn? I'm planning on making more of my famous cotton dishcloths and then I'm also making some Tawashi face cloths!

Fudge Pie

Oh how I love me some Fudge Pie! My friend Jane gave me this recipe years ago and I want to share it with you.
It's so easy to make and it is pure heaven!
3 Tbsp. Cocoa
1/2 Stick BUTTER melted(no substituting)
1 1/2 cup Sugar
2 eggs

1/2 cup evaporated milk

1 tsp. vanilla

1 deep dish (or 2 regular) pie shell(s) unbaked
Combine all ingredients well, pour into pie shell(s). Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until the center is done. Cool and top with cool whip if desired.

*Note: I don't put Cool Whip on mine--it ruins that wonderful little butter crust on the top!

Tonight is our last night of VBS at church. Last night we had 10 in our class! WHEW!
I'm so worn out when we get done, but it's a good worn out--know what I mean?
Robbie has gone to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC with his Pop Pop and Mimi today. I hope he has a great time and doesn't over-heat, get sunburned, have an accident in his pants, scrape his knees, etc. You know how I can get over that baby!

Hangin' In and Hangin' On

Whew---this week is FLYING by and I ain't happy about it. If y'all have any tricks on how to slow down the clock, please share with me! We've been busy doing Bible School this week. Robbie's class had 8 kids in it last night, but there were a lot of adults besides me and my cousin Kelly. So....it worked out good! I love working with the 2 and 3 year olds, but I'm so thankful I don't do it everyday! I love my middle school aged kids and am thankful that I have a job with that age group!
When Bible School was almost over, Big Daddy came to church. He wanted to go to Wal-Mart to get a few things to change the oil in his truck. I didn't "NEED" anything, but somehow managed to walk out of there with a buggy full of stuff and a $130.00 receipt! UGH! Am I the only one who can manage to do this?
I did get something I've been seeing on TV and have been wanting. Ended up buying two!

These little under your bed shoe holder thingies are wonderful! I have gone through my closet floor and weeded out the shoes I NEVER wear. I am embarrassed to say that I have a huge garbage bag FULL of shoes to donate to our local thrift store and 24 pairs underneath my bed, and another shelf full! I do love me some shoes though, and I know I'm not alone here!
While we were at Wal-Mart I bought Robbie one of those little paint by number kits because he was real close to pitching a fit and well, for $4.97, I'll choose my battles. He wanted to paint it last night, but it was late when we got home so I told him that when the sun came back up, he could start painting!
Wouldn't you know the first thing he said when he woke up this morning was, "Mama....the sun's up. Can I paint now?" So...we put some newspaper out on his little table and opened the paints and let him begin his first (of many, I'm sure) artistry projects! The only colors he wanted to use were red, blue and green.

So---I'm thinking I'll frame it and put it out at Christmas time since it's so festively done in those colors! HAHAHA
I just finished reading this book: I found it while browsing at the library last week with Robbie. I loved it and found out that it's the first of a series. This is Christian fiction and I strongly urge you to read it! Gone are the days of Stephen King novels, smut novels, trashy romances, etc. I am hooked on Christian Fiction and I just feel better when I read these books instead of other stuff that I don't think God wants in my head. Know what I mean?
So...if you're out and about, stop in your library or local book store and grab this book. It's a really quick read and now I'm gonna have to read the others.
Night before last I went to my sister's shop. She owns a vinyl graphics business that she does on the side. I made some lovelies and wanted to show them off. First of all, a new coffee cup for school. Oooh...I just love it! Then I decorated a water bottle. Whew-wee! I need to drink more water daily! Maybe this cute little jug will help me!

Also, I have a friend who works at a mill. I got a whole box of embroidery thread to play with on my embroidery machine!

My mama went to a yard sale and brought me back these pretties. There were more things, but I love old jewelry! Check out the framed fan! It was a dollar!

OK, I guess that's enough for you for today! It's 3:45 and my den looks like this:

There are Robbie's Marble Race game pieces all over the floor, parts of an Aggravation game in the floor, his painting drying on his little crayon table, two quilts that have fallen off the couch onto the floor, Lulabelle sticking right beside of Robbie (still in his PJ's), cards and marbles all over the floor!
You think I care? Lord NO! This is the stuff that memories are made of! Since my summer vacation is quickly coming to an end, I plan on enjoying every single bit of it--marbles and all!

VBS Week

Hey Y'all and Happy Monday to you!

Thought I'd do better this week than I did last week and post today.
Last night was the first night of Vacation Bible School at our church. We'll be going through this Thursday night so if you live near here, come on out an join us! We had a great night last night but we'll need a few things to do during our "down time". I'm taking bubbles tonight! Robbie only has like 25 bottles thanks to Nana, so we'll share them with his friends at VBS tonight.
The sunburn I got last week is now aggravating the FIRE out of me! I'm peeling and itching and I'm getting on my own nerves.

We didn't get to go to any yard sales Saturday. Mama and I were supposed to go, but she didn't call and I didn't get up until 10:30. She said it was foggy and rainy so she just let me sleep in. I really missed getting to go to a few, but maybe I'll go this weekend!
This Friday morning, we'll be heading west on Interstate 40 for a visit with my college roommate. She lives below Asheville in a small town called Swannanoa. It's probably been 10 years since I've seen her so I'm excited to get to spend some time with her and get to meet her two cute kids! While I'm there, I'm going to make a run to the Elmore-Pisgah Mill Outlet. If you crochet anything using cotton yarn, this is the mill that makes the "Peaches and Cream" brand. I am so excited about getting my hands on some great yarn at a good deal too!
I'm heading to get Robbie down for his nap so that he won't be a meanie at Bible School tonight!
